چکیده

This study aims to evaluate the adsorption isotherm of carbon microparticles prepared from pumpkin (Cucurbita maxima) seeds for adsorbing curcumin (as a model dye). The results were derived and compared using kinetics approach based on several standard models, namely Langmuir, Temkin, Freundlich, Dubinin-Radushkevich models. second aim is effects particle size (from 100 1000 mm) characteristics. experimental showed that surface occurred in monolayer with physical phenomenon. because active areas are located only outer no structure available. confirmed by fact produced has less porosity pores themselves mostly release inorganic contents during synthesis, while amount content very less. confirmation profile was also achieved testing various sizes microparticles. Smaller particles have direct impacts improvement capacity, which due existence larger area, number sites, additional cooperative adsorption, i.e. adsorbate-adsorbate interaction. Understanding phenomena occurring useful further developments applications, such as those catalysts adsorbents, especially concerning production materials organic waste.

Morphological, Thermal and Physicochemical Properties of Starches from Squash (Cucurbita maxima) and Pumpkin (Cucurbita moschata)

The properties of starches isolated from two squash cultivars (Cucurbita maxima) were studied and compared with those of two pumpkin cultivars (Cucurbita moschata) and one normal potato cultivar. The amylose content of pumpkin and squash starches ranged from 16.18% to 21.29%. The pumpkin and squash starches appeared as a mixture of spherical, polyhedral and dome shaped granules. The pumpkin and...
